On a Dondra catamaran we try to place only the best parts as much as possible.
The Dondra carbon mast is lighter, stiffer and can carry more sail on top. The mast is a “chimney mast” without spreaders, which again gives less resistance to wind.
As the fewer side cables do.
The mast is held vertically by textile cable on the side.
A steel cable to the front is the basis of the rotating fore sail. If you want, you can have a second steel cable forward.
The mast has a wing shape so the sail works much better.
Because the mast moves itself through the wind, or is moved by you, you don’t have to put your catamaran against the wind to hoist, lower or reef your mainsail.
It has propulsive power from the wind and can also be used as a storm sail. No need to go forward in heavy wind.
Here the Park Avenue boom helps you again. He just catches the sail. So it does not fall on both sides of the boom. No problem at all to fasten it.
He is fixed under the mast so when you use the mast as sail he does not make it difficult.
Your boom is also longer and at the end there is a system that helps you taking objects ( also people) out of the water. This with help of a winch.
