CARDAN STEERING
We do not like hydraulic steering: there is a risk of oil leaks or other breakdowns and the tuning of the rudders is also not the easiest with the hydraulic steering.
With us, cardans provide the connection between the steering wheel and the helm. Cardans are stable and do not wear out.

ACKERMAN EFFECT
The cardan steering also allows us to position the rudders in such a way that they move with an Ackerman effect, just like the front wheels of a car.
If you take a turn – and on the catamaran it is a large turn – the radius of the outer circle is much larger than that of the inner circle.
That means that your rudders (with a car the wheels) must be in a different angle to steer perfectly. By applying the Ackerman effect, the rudders are automatically adjusted to the correct angle.
